MP Segamat and Human Resource Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam hoped the aid would alleviate the burden borne by the students' families in providing school necessities. Also present was Jementah state assemblyman Dr Lee Hong Tee.
Subramaniam also reminded parents on the importance of education and urged them to play a role to ensure that their children further their studies.
"I hope there will be more focus on improving the children's achievements in education. Efforts by the government will be in vain without the help of parents, teachers and the students themselves," said Subramaniam.
He also said efforts by the Parents and Teachers Association was also important to steer the nation's education to greater heights.
