A GROUP of students at SM Taman Daya 2 in Johor Baru became hysterical after claiming to see apparitions which looked like pontianak and pochong.

| Twenty students were taken to the school surau when they became hysterical after apparently seeing apparitions. |
Other students also claimed to have seen the apparitions for the past four months.
The sightings often occurred at the fourth floor of the school which housed the classrooms of Form Four students.
Pontianak is the local term for a vampire while pochong are floating female ghosts wrapped in white shroud.
Many theories have circulated on how the apparitions came to appear at the school.
Some students claimed that the sightings started since a group of students came back from a dance competition at a shopping mall in Kulaijaya in April.
In the latest incident at 10am on Monday, a group of 20 students fell into a hysteria and created panic among those at the school.
Staff members were quick to act and brought the students to the school surau to calm them down.
A student who wished to remain anonymous said some of her classmates had screamed in fear after seeing "something" in the classroom.
Their screams created a domino effect and soon, other classmates also screamed in panic.
"This was not the first incident and it makes the other students uneasy."
The student said many of her schoolmates who were victims had related about seeing apparitions before going into hysteria.
