PADANG BESAR: Locals want the authorities to take action against a livestock breeder whose 20 cattle have been roaming the town’s main streets.
Pictures of the cattle wandering about on a flyover leading to the town, which were uploaded on a local Facebook page, has drawn angry reactions from residents.
They called on the authorities to act quickly as the livestock were a danger to motorists. They said the animals should be kept in a cowshed.
Titi Tinggi assemblyman Khaw Hock Kong expressed concern that the wandering cattle could cause accidents as the road was the main route to the Padang Besar Trading Arcade and Padang Besar Immigration, Customs and Quarantine Complex.
“The owner should be more responsible and there should be stricter enforcement,” he said.
Kangar Municipal Council president Khairin Nazry Karim said the council was tracking down the cattle owner and would issue a notice to him.
He said the livestock could be seized if the owner continued to allow them to roam freely.
“We will issue a compound to the owner(s) if they fail to manage their livestock accordingly,” he said.
