KUALA LUMPUR: As 14th General Election (GE14) results rolled out, highly-connected Malaysians tuned to social media to express their thoughts, generally posting positive notes on the outcome.

One netizen took time to thank Negri Sembilan's former menteri besar, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, who happens to be GE14's only candidate to have won without contesting.

Netizen @taufik_fik96 tweeted, "Terima kasih tok mat dengan menjalankan tugas sebagai menteri besar di negeri sembilan dengan amat baik sekali" ("Thank you Tok Mat for performing your duty as menteri besar of Negeri Sembilan splendidly"). His tweet came with a portrait photo of Mohamad, who earlier won the Rantau state seat, in a BN shirt.

His tweet garnered over 10,500 retweets and more than 8,100 likes. It was even picked up by Mohamad's daughter, who goes by the twitter handle, @aizadontsurf.

"Everything he did was for Negeri Sembilan. I say it not just as his daughter, but as someone who has watched him fret and work hard every single day, since I was 10. His slogan was 'Bukti, bukan sekadar janji' for a reason. Sebab segala bukti nyata di depan mata saya'," she tweeted.

Her tweet garnered near 6,500 retweets and over 5,000 likes at the time of writing, with many other netizens thanking Mohamad for his efforts to develop the state.

Meanwhile BN’s Khairy Jamaluddin, who won the Rembau parliamentary seat congratulated Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM)’s Youth Chief, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, who won in Muar.

Saddiq had tweeted, "Looking forward to engaging with you in Parliament sir. You've built a formidable portfolio in forwarding the youth agenda, especially in sports. I look forward to working with you in this field. #YouthPower cuts across party-lines." in response to Khairy's earlier tweet clarifying that the tabulating in Rembau did not go through a recount.

Khairy replied to Saddiq's tweet with: "Congratulations, YB. Please look after our youth. Over to you now."

"We need more thinking like @SyedSaddiq and @Khairykj among the minister and YBs", responded @cekguaeman, while @ATMology tweeted, "Alhamdulillah. I'm proud to see the level of maturity shown by some of our politicians. Kepimpinan bertukar arah tak bermaksud negara jatuh ke tangan musuh. Both sides want a BETTER Malaysia. Let's work together".

Also on Twittersphere, PKR vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar retweeted @quinn_wanie's well wish, "Terima Kasih @chedetofficial Terima Kasih Ya Allah! I won't forget this feeling!!! Terima Kasih @n_izzah @SyedSaddiq Jangan kecewakan kami!!" (Thank you @chedetofficial Thank you Ya Allah ! I won't forget this feeling!!! Thank you @n_izzah @SyedSaddiq Don't let us down!!!).
