PETALING JAYA: After ticking winning TV3's Anugerah Juara (AJL) off his bucket list, popular singer-songwriter Hael Husaini can now tick another -- recording a duet with his favourite singer, Dayang Nurfaizah.
“I plucked the courage to voice out my intention to her when we had a promotional gig for AJL 32 in January," said the 30-year-old singer when met at the launch of the duet single titled Haram, held at The Gasket Alley here recently.
Instead of brushing off the young and relatively-new artiste, Dayang generously told him to focus on winning the AJL first.
“So after winning it, I went to see her for the ‘promise’ she made,” recounted the Negri Sembilan-born singer.
And Dayang asked him for the song first to see whether it would be suitable for her.
The three-time AJL Best Vocal recipient agreed to the collaboration, making Hael an extremely happy chap.
Dayang said she was drawn to the fresh sound of the tune.
“The next step was to see whether our vocals would complement each other. And thankfully, it did. I view it as something which was meant to be,” said the 36-year-old vocal powerhouse.
The pair first performed the song at the recent Anugerah MeleTOP ERA 2018 held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil.
After the show, fans were waxing lyrical about the collaboration.
The song with lyrics that touched on forbidden love, was released digitally last Thursday on iTunes, Raku and Spotify, and it topped iTunes chart the following day.
