KUALA TERENGGANU: There was no snow, reindeer or carols.
Yet there were jingles everywhere at the state-owned Primula Beach Hotel with a Christmas tree, decorations and Santa Claus to usher in the yuletide for its patrons.
Michael Ong did a fine job impersonating Santa, to dish out sweets and goodies to the hotel’s patrons.
Hotel public relations and marketing communications executive Tengku Irma Tengku Othman joined its food and beverage manager Hasmadi Nasirudin Othman to entertain the guests.
They included Che Ku Noor Azliza Che Ku Abdullah, Shikin Mohamad, Nabila Syukor, Wan Nor Wan Mohamad and Nor Siti Nor Mohd.
Irma said that having ‘Father Christmas’ around was a rare sight in the east coast peninsula state and patrons were very excited to see one.
“With Christmas just around the corner, Santa Claus certainly was a star attraction to usher in the Yuletide,”said Irma.
Primula is perhaps the only hotel in overwhelmingly Muslim Terengganu to have organised such an event.
hotel’s chefs, supervised by food and beverage manager
Hasmadi, with the assistance of his chefs, including head chef Azizo (correct) Ali, prepared special Christmas dishes that included roast chicken breast, set lunch and dinner meals and savouries like fruitcakes and desserts, all at affordable prices.
“We wanted to keep the Christmas mood alive in the city, just like all over Malaysia, which is diverse in terms of creed, colour and race.
“Our patrons, who include locals, visitors from other states and foreign tourists, were enthralled with Christmas atmosphere that had piped in music and songs.
“This is our way of offering our guests Christmas cheer away from their homes,” said Hasmadi.
