WASHINGTON: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived here for a four-day official visit this morning.
He was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis.
Zahid has a busy schedule ahead, with several meetings lined up including with top US government officials and also officials from the CIA and FBI.
Malaysian ambassador to the US Datuk Awang Adek Hussin in a briefing to the media said the highlight of Zahid's visit would be the signing of a document which would pave the way for visa-free travel to the US for Malaysians.
US State Secretary John Kerry is expected to ink the document with Zahid tomorrow.
Zahid is expected to have a luncheon meeting with CIA director John Brennan later today.
He will also be briefed on latest developments involving the fight against IS by the CIA tomorrow.
The issue concerning disputes over territorial claims in the South China Sea is also expected to be discussed during tomorrow's briefing.
