RESIDENTS in Kampung Tersusun Tasek, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Ipoh, have appealed to the Ipoh City Council to clean up the massive illegal dumping ground in the village.

They blamed it on small-time contractors who dumped rubbish by the roadside, although the council had placed two large garbage bins nearby.

“It has become a health hazard to us as the smell is unbearable and rats are seen running around, especially at night,” said one of them, who declined to be identified.

Incidentally, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir visited the site recently and shared photographs of the piles of rubbish on his Facebook page.

An Ipoh City Council spokesman said the illegal dumping ground was cleared by workers,

hours after the issue was highlighted on Zambry’s Facebook page.

The council will also station enforcement officers in the village to nab offenders.
