KUALA PILAH: Six men charged with raping an underage girl two years ago were acquitted by the Sessions Court today without their defence being called.

Upon hearing the verdict, Muhamad Tirmizi Daud, 21, Muhammad Aqmar Mohd Saad, 19, Mohamad Nurhidayat Mazli, 20, Ismail Abdul Talib, 28, Muhammad Shukry Md Azlisam, 20, and Muhammad Hasanul Jasni, 20, looked stunned before they rushed to their family members who were seated in the public gallery.

Two of them were also seen crying after the decision was read by Judge Nariman Badruddin who found that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused.

Nariman had also said the victim’s statements throughout the trial were inconsistent and not credible.

The six were charged with raping a 15-year-old girl in a hut in Jelebu at 2.30am in August 2015.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Khadijah Mohd Pisol prosecuted while the accused were represented by Haresh Mahadeven and Ramzani Idris.
