PUTRAJAYA: The Town and Country Planning Department was today re-branded as PLANMalaysia.

The re-branding was approved by the Cabinet on Jan 25 this year, said Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar.

“All existing (Town and Country Planning) offices at state level in Peninsular Malaysia will be renamed as PLANMalaysia @ (state name),” he said at the launch of the PLANMalaysia logo.

Also present were Noh's deputy Datuk Halimah Mohamad Sadique and Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohammad Mentek.

With the Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill 2016 recently gazetted, Noh also reminded developers to ensure that different consultants are engaged to conduct Social Impact Assessment (SIA) reports.

“Previously, the SIA is a small part mentioned in the Environmental Impact Assessment report. Now the SIA should be done by consultants registered with the Board of Town Planners,” he said.
