A damaged signboard near a school in Pengkalan Rinting, Tampoi, has become an eyesore.

Parts of the signboard are missing, making it difficult for motorists to find their way around the area.

Kampung Skudai Kiri resident Rafiee Jaafar, 38, urges the authorities to repair the signboard as it has created problems for motorists who are not familiar with the neighbourhood.

“Many people have approached me to ask where the Tampoi police station is.

“Before it was damaged, the signboard clearly indicated the direction to the police station,” said Rafiee, who is a postman.

He said he was worried that pupils from nearby SK Pengkalan Rinting would play with the metal sheets of the signboard that had fallen to the ground.

“I hope the Johor Baru City Council will repair it soon as the damaged signboard can pose a danger to pedestrians who walk past the structure,” he said.

Another resident Kadir Sulaiman, 56, said the signboard reflected badly on the image of the city.

ACTIONLINE

Johor Baru City Council public relations officer Mohd Firdaus Abdul Hamid said a report on the damaged signboard had been forwarded to the local council’s Town Transportation Division for action.

“Action will be taken and we can expect maintenance work to be conducted to rectify the problem soon,” he said.

Firdaus urged the public to forward complaints and photos of similar cases to the council via its complaints WhatsApp phone number 019-7788212.

“People can take photos of incidents that need the attention of the council and send them to this WhatsApp phone number,” he said.
