SINGAPORE: About 250 grammes of ‘Ice’ (methamphetamine) worth S$30,000 (RM93,459) were seized from a 24-year-old Malaysian at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Wednesday.
In a statement yesterday, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said that at about 10.45am, one of its officers inspected an arriving Malaysia-registered motorcycle.
ICA said one packet of a substance, believed to be 'Ice', was discovered in the inside of the man's left sock.
Further inspection revealed another packet hidden on the inside of the man's right sock, it added.
The ICA said officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) were immediately alerted.
The motorcyclist and the packets were handed over to the CNB for further investigation. Singapore’s Misuse of Drugs Act provides for the death penalty if the amount of methamphetamine trafficked exceeds 250 grammes. -- Bernama
