KOTA KINABALU: Police are still investigating the motive behind the assault of a news editor at a petrol station in Luyang here last Saturday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said they have reviewed the footage of the incident.

The 65-year-old editor, who earlier had supper with a friend, was allegedly followed by a motorcyclist and both stopped at the petrol station.

“At the station, the victim was seen approaching the suspect.

“We are urging the suspect, a local Chinese man, to come forward to assist the investigation,” he said.

Chandra also confirmed that the victim was assaulted until he passed out before he was sent by an ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons.
