KANGAR: A man who stabbed a bus driver for accidentally leaving him stranded in Alor Star last month was sentenced to five days’ jail and a RM3,000 fine today.

Magistrate Shamshol Azwa Martadza meted out the decision after 42-year-old trader Kong Yeow How pleaded guilty to the offence when he was brought to court to face the charge.

Kong, from Kaki Bukit here, was charged with intentionally causing hurt using a knife towards Mohd Fakhri Yahya, 33, at the Kangar Bus Station at 11.02am on Nov 16.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Farhan Aliff Ahmad prosecuted, while Kong was represented by lawyer Asmaniza Abdullah.

It was reported that an express bus passenger, who was inadvertently left behind during a pit stop in Alor Star, boarded a taxi, chased after the bus and attacked the bus driver with a knife the moment the bus pulled in at the terminal in Kangar.

The driver received three stitches for a 3cm-deep stab wound in his left shoulder.
