MELAKA: Police have detained a female relative in connection with the murder of a sexagenarian woman during a robbery at the victim’s house in Duyong here early this month.
A man, believed to be the woman’s accomplice was also picked up to shed light on the May 6 incident in which C. Shelliee, 67, was found dead on her bed about 1.40am in Taman Sri Duyong.
The victim was bleeding from the mouth.
Melaka police deputy chief, Datuk Sun Teoh Tia said the suspects in their 20s, were picked up in separate locations and remanded until Friday to facilitate investigations into the murder.
He said the woman was nabbed on the day of the murder at the Melaka Central district police headquarters between 5am and 6am.
“The man, who is also a friend of the woman was picked up in Johor Baru about 4am last Sunday,” he told reporters after officiating a crime prevention programme at the Melaka police contingent headquarters in Bukit Beruang here yesterday.
Sun said the police had identified two other suspects who were linked to the murder and were in the midst of tracking them down. -- BERNAMA
