PUTRAJAYA: The public can now download a copy of the Election Commission's redelineation report beginning today.
The report can be obtained via the commission's official website.
In a statement today, Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said following the gazette of the redrawing of electoral boundaries in Peninsular Malaysia, the commission has updated voting districts and gazetted it on March 30 in accordance to Section 7 (1) and (2) of the Election Act 1958 [Act 19].
Last Wednesday, the redelineation motion was passed after 129 members of parliament (MP) voted in favour, with 80 votes against. It had also obtained the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V.
The 129 MPs who voted in favour of the motion were Barisan Nasional (BN) representatives and independent Bandar Tun Razak MP Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
Those who voted against the recommendations were from Pakatan Harapan, Pas and Parti Warisan Sabah.
Subsequently on the following day, according to a document published on the official website of the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the redelination motion was gazetted and named as the Federal Constitution (Delimitation of Constituencies) (States of Malaya) Order 2018.
The order which was signed by the Chief Secretary to the government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa took effect on March 29.
