KUALA LUMPUR: “I’ve lost a son. But Allah has saved another,” said Nasron Mat Yusof, 46.

He is the father of Mohd Nizamuddin, 13, who is one of at least 25 people who died in a fire at the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah Tahfiz Centre in Datuk Keramat here this morning.

Nasron told Berita Harian that he received the devastating news at about 6.30am from his other son, 15-year-old Zunnun Misiri, who also studies at the school.

“Zunnun managed to jump out of the building before receiving help from passers-by.

“He is now seeking treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur,” he said today.

Nasron said he last met Nizamuddin, his youngest son, during the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrations recently.

“I accept his passing.

“He was a smart child... he achieved all A’s in last year’s Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR),” he added.
