KUALA LUMPUR: A police truck transporting the bodies of 14 victims of the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah Tahfiz fire arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) mortuary here at 10.40am. It is understood that another truck is on the way.

Ustaz Hoslan Hussin was seen outside the mortuary, sobbing over the sheet-covered bodies as he read prayers.

When interviewed, he said he had held programmes with the school's students several times before. He last met them during Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year.

Hoslan said their deaths occurred while they were on the path to attaining religious education, so they are regarded as martyrs in Islam.

Scores of members of the media are standing by in front of the mortuary, awaiting further developments, including reports that some leaders will visit here later on.

No family member has been spotted at HKL, though several individuals were seen entering the mortuary around the same time as the first truck's arrival.
