KUALA TERENGGANU: Two traffic policemen from Dungun Police Station died when they were hit by a lorry at KM139 Jalan Kuala Terengganu - Kuantan at 2.55pm on Wednesday.

Kemaman District Police chief Supt Mohd Said Ibrahim said the victims, SM Abdul Hakim Samingan, 54, and Cpl Suresh A/L Itchang, 36, died at the scene after being hit by a KIA type lorry which entered the path of the convoy which was being accompanied by the two victims.

“Both victims were participants of the In-Service Training convoy (LDP), riding on a long-distance on heavy motorcycle from Mersing, Johor to Kuala Terengganu.

“On arriving at the scene of the incident, the lorry suddenly entered into the path of the convoy, probably because the driver had lost control of the vehicle. Both victims were believed to have been unable to avoid the lorry,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
