PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has been selected to host the 14th Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) Conference in 2021.
Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik said the announcement was made by ISESCO director-general Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijr at the 13th ISESCO General Conference in Rabat, Morocco yesterday.
“Malaysia is committed to organising the general conference effectively to achieve the objectives of ISESCO,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, in his speech at the conference plenary session yesterday, Maszlee reiterated Malaysia’s stand to give its continued support to Palestine and the struggle of the people there.
He also stressed the need for quality education and empowering the younger generation with information and knowledge that are needed to face future challenges.
Maszlee also urged ISESCO member nations to work together towards sustainable development and collaborations in research programmes and activities.
He also invited ISESCO member nations to send their students to pursue further studies in Malaysian tertiary institutions.
ISESCO whose headquarters is in Rabat, Morocco, was set up in May, 1979 and now has 52 member nations, making it the largest Islamic organisation which is focused on education, science and culture. - Bernama
