ALOR STAR: Leadership crisis has finally hit Pakatan Harapan with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) trying to overshadow its counterparts.
Kedah Umno Youth chief Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin said PPBM is trying to portray itself as leader of the opposition pact.
The party even proposed its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the candidate for the prime minister’s post.
However, he said, it came as no surprise that two parties in Pakatan Harapan – DAP and PKR – have rejected the idea.
“PPBM is not an asset to the opposition and Dr Mahathir is not a new political weapon but a liability for Pakatan Harapan,” he said in a statement today.
Shaiful describe PPBM as a green party with huge political lust to be the main player among the opposition.
He said the Kedah Umno Youth wing is not confident of Dr Mahathir’s ability to lead Pakatan Harapan.
This is due to his age factor and his ‘U-turn’ stands, he said.
Shaiful also expressed his confidence that the opposition can play its role even better without Dr Mahathir.
He hoped PPBM leaders would be more transparent in answering all the questions raised by several PPBM’s Armada excos.
He believed that there were grounds in all issues raised by the excos.
“PPBM accused Umno of not being transparent, but they too should explain the allegations thrown at them,” he said.
