Pas state commissioner Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin Syeikh Fakhrurazi said Pas is ready to engage in a three-cornered fight between BN and its former allies in 12 state and parliamentary seats in Kedah in the GE14.

ALOR STAR: Pas is all geared up to take on PKR and DAP, its former allies in Pakatan Rakyat, in the 14th General Election (GE14) as the Islamic party has decided to contest in all 36 state seats and 15 parliamentary seats in Kedah.

Its state commissioner Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin Syeikh Fakhrurazi said Pas is ready to engage in a three-cornered fight between BN and its former allies in 12 state and parliamentary seats in Kedah in the GE14.

He said the decision was made following the Pas Syura Council decision in May to terminate its tahaluf siyasi (political cooperation) with PKR.

The decision came after the party delegates unanimously approved a motion to sever ties with PKR at its 63rd national annual conference in Kedah.

“The decision to contest in all state and parliamentary seats in Kedah, however, is subjected to the approval from Pas national leadership based on the studies being carried out by the party,” he told reporters at a press conference after the Pas Aidilfitri open house at its state headquarters in Kota Sarang Semut today.

Pas had contested in 24 state seats and eight parliamentary seats during the previous general election, which saw the party winning nine state seats and one parliamentary seat.

However, Pas lost two of its state seats after two of its assemblymen crossed over to Parti Amanah Negara (PAN), a new party formed by former Pas leaders following a major fall-out with its ulama faction leaders.
