Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Selangor Umno members must shake off those notions and work hard to build its strength with other component parties to wrest the state back from the opposition.

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Umno should never assume that Pas’s purported support towards the ruling government and the Election Commission’s proposed electoral redelination would mean victory and that the state will return to the hands of Barisan Nasional in the next general election.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Selangor Umno members must shake off those notions and work hard to build its strength with other component parties to wrest the state back from the opposition.

“Those are mere assumptions and even more so when we think that Pas would not return to the now Pakatan Harapan because of DAP’s presence. We do not know what will happen in the future. So we must stand on our own strength and work with the current political situation.

“If all members can put in effort to strive harder without taking into account the assumptions, I am confident victory will be on our side,” he said.

Ismail said this after opening the Umno Kota Raja division delegates meeting held at Bukit Kemuning Golf and Country Resort today.

Also present was Kota Raja Umno division chief Datuk Kamaruzzaman Johari.

Ismail, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, said it was high time that Selangor folks realised that they have been deceived by the state government led by PKR.

There has been nothing but empty promises for Selangor people in the past two terms, he said.

“I do not see any significant improvement since they ruled. The people had voted for them as they wanted to see what Pakatan could give them and (they) gave (them) another second chance as the promised developments were in progress.

“However, it is nearing the end of the second term but it is obvious that what was promised have not been delivered. So they have given empty promises and Selangor people must be smart and not be fooled anymore,” he said.
