KOTA KINABALU: All Sabah Umno divisions and branches have been directed to be prepared for general elections that might be called at anytime.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, who is Umno Sabah liaison committee chairman, said he was briefed by each of the divisions as well as bureaus on their preparedness levels during the committee meeting tonight.

“At the same time, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who is co-chairing the Malaysia Day celebration main committee with Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak, to be held here this Saturday, briefed us on the event.

“I am happy that our prime minister and deputy prime minister will be attending, and I believe each branch (of Umno) here will also send their representatives to join in the celebration,” he told reporters after the meeting.

Asked about Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's attack against Umno, Musa said he is confident that Sabahans are able to evaluate for themselves the party's performance.

“What is important is that we continue the good work for Sabah to fulfil our pledge to give the best service.

“A lot of progress alongside Barisan Nasional (component parties) have been achieved in both urban and rural areas of this state ... The same thing can be seen across the nation," he said.

Meanwhile at the start of the meeting, Musa witnessed Sabah Biro Tata Negara (BTN) director Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali hand over 600 Jalur Gemilang flags to Masidi, to be distributed to all Umno divisions in Sabah in conjunction with Malaysia Day.
