SEREMBAN: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Srikandi (Woman Wing) assistant secretary Hasnita Hishamudin has today announced her resignation from the post and declared quitting the party with immediate effect.
Hasnita who was appointed to the post in April this year said, cronyism, especially at the grassroots level continues to become a practise in the party which had caused disappointment to many of its members.
"Those who have worked hard from the start were sidelined, and those with good relations with the top leaders are given priority.
During the early formation of PPBM, I, together with other founding members of the party including Kamarulzaman Habibul Rahman and Anina Saadudin had worked really hard to gather supporters and strengthen the party.
We had invested a lot of time and effort to ensure that it could become a better political party from Umno.
"I was mesmerised by the unique political idea brought by some of its new leaders. I was given the trust to lead the state Srikandi and I had taken the responsibility with all my heart until internal conflict started to get in the way," she said.
According to Hasnita, the conflicts had not only sidelined those who had put in real efforts to serve the party, but slandering too had become a normal culture among its members.
"Sadly, when this matter was highlighted to the PPBM Supreme Council, it fell on deaf ears," she said at the Press conference to announce her withdrawal from the party held here today.
"The direction of the party had drifted from its principle. In fact, I can say that PPBM now is a problematic party, with every state now struggling with its own internal conflicts," she said.
Hasnita also claimed that, a friction between PPBM's president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his deputy President, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir has also triggered an unhealthy ambience in PPBM.
"Now I understand why some of PPBM pioneers had made drastic decision by leaving the party. The party doesn't serve its purpose anymore," she said.
