KUALA LUMPUR: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali today dropped a tweet, which many speculated was in response to recent events surrounding Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Azmin tweeted: “Sandiwara kelas pertama (a first-class theatrical act). Kah kah kah."
His cryptic message drew comments from netizens who were both supportive of the Selangor menteri besar, as well those critical of him over the statement.
Many had also linked the tweet to Dr Mahathir’s nomination as the opposition's prime minister candidate and his failed attempt to visit PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital.
Yesterday, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar who accompanied Dr Mahathir to the hospital, said she knew that he would not be allowed to visit her father.
“We knew that Tun Dr Mahathir may not be allowed to visit Anwar but after a discussion with Tun (Dr Mahathir) we tried to work it out,” she said.
In reply to Azmin’s tweet, user Abam ZAPA labelled Pakatan Harapan supporters as “stupid” for their approval of Dr Mahathir.
“Madey (Dr Mahathir) was the one who jailed Anwar, and in the end, he (Dr Mahathir) is the one who wants to break the prison walls. Pakatan supporters are being fooled until kingdom come.”
Malaysia 2.0 opined that Azmin was aware of Dr Mahathir’s alleged political game and ploy.
“Azmin is the only one who is aware that Madey (Dr Mahathir) will use his (political) power for family and self-serving interests. Long live Azmin”.
But there were also those who were sceptical about Azmin’s loyalty to Anwar and accused the former of employing measures to keep his boss behind bars.
“You are the one who played out DSAI (Anwar) to remain in jail, in order for you to remain powerful in politics and PKR”, wrote one Mugabe Robert.
