KOTA KINABALU: The Barisan Nasional (BN)-led government has an excellent track record in assisting the rakyat and there is no need to change the current authority, said Sabah deputy chief minister Datuk Yahya Hussin.
He said Sabahans must therefore not be influenced by opposition propaganda which is encouraging them to change governments; and instead continue to support BN and ensure that it wins in the upcoming general election (GE14).
“If the (BN) government is good and helping the people every day, do we want to make changes? We know the government is kind, so we should repay it by returning BN to power this coming election,” he said on Sunday.
The Putatan Umno division chief was speaking to reporters after launching the Ziarah Kasih Jappy 2 School programme here.
Yahya, who is Petagas assemblyman, highlighted that various assistance has been channelled by the government to the people in all seasons, not just when elections are near.
He said that this makes him confident that Putatan will remain a BN stronghold and that its residents will assure a BN victory in the district.
In the GE13, BN won three seats – Putatan Parliamentary; and Petagas and Tanjung Aru state seats.
On another development, Yahya announced that the construction of SMK Petagas is expected to commence this year.
“The tender for the school’s construction has been made. This new school is very much needed, as the two existing secondary schools are not able to cater to the needs of the community here,” he added.
Earlier, Yahya distributed school bags and uniforms to 1,000 pupils from 13 primary schools in the Putatan constituency.
