SEREMBAN: Internal issues and squabblings continue to be ignored by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (PPBM) leadership, triggering dismay among grassroots members.

Former Teluk Kemang PPBM division women vice chief Zaliha Mohamad Zakiria said friction at grassroots level had long been ignored since the party's inception.

“Cronyism continues to become a practice. Those who have worked hard from the start were sidelined, and those with good relations with the top leaders are given priority,” she said.

Zaliha, who was appointed to the post in January last year, said the friction had caused a divide between members.

“Many of the party’s important events were not informed to us. Things worsened ever since one of the party’s pioneers, Kamarul Azman Habibur Rahman left the party.

“New chiefs or vice chiefs were picked without our knowledge. We were left in the dark on where we stand in the party.

“There is no cooperation between the women divisions and state leaders. Most of them are too caught up in their positions that they failed to realise the real mission of the party. This sad situation has been happening in every state in the country,” she said during a Press conference held here, today.

Zaliha said efforts to highlight the issue to PPBM Supreme Council was futile.

“We have seen many PPBM members decided to leave the party due to these issues. It’s about time for the party’s leadership to give more attention to this matter and I hope they will be able to sort it out or we too, have no choice but to leave the party."
