JERANTUT: Barisan Nasional (BN) has yet to announce its list of candidates for the 14th General Election, but irresponsible people have put up posters of supposed candidates for Jerantut.
Jerantut Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Nazlan Idris, the Jerantut member of parliament, was shocked when he was informed about the posters.
“BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak has not made any announcements and even I do not know who is going to contest in the parliamentary seat and three state seats,” he said, adding that BN members must wait for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to make an announcement and respect his choices.
According to the posting about the posters that had gone viral on social media, Jerantut division Umno deputy chief Datuk Seri Wan Amizan Wan Razak, the Tahan assemblyman, would contest in the parliamentary constituency.
It said Jerantut district councillor Datuk Wan Zamzuri Wan Hasenan would contest the Tahan state seat while the Damak state seat would be contested by Datuk Lee Chong Lai and Datuk Nazri Ngah would be fielded in Pulau Tawar.
Abdul Rahman Mat Isa, a 45-year-old civil servant, said many BN supporters were surprised to see the posters.
“This can confuse the people and jeopardise harmony among the people, especially party members. Everyone should remain patient until an announcement is made,” he said, adding that the posters were the talk of the town.
