ALOR STAR: People who intend to own a house should not delay as property prices may keep rising in the coming years.
This is the advice from property guru Datuk Seri Vincent Tiew during a public talk at the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd’s MyRumah Property Showcase here yesterday.
“Even if you buy a house this year, it will take a few years for it to be completed and receive the keys to your dream home. So, why wait?
“Property prices today are affordable and they may gradually go up in the future,” he said after the talk.
Tiew, who is the senior vice-president of Aladdin Group, said many people preferred to wait before investing in a property as they hoped for prices to drop.
However, he said, due to the rising prices of building materials and construction costs, the public should not wait too long to buy a house.
“Some people are waiting for the government to help them own a house,” he said.
But, he said the government had provided public housing schemes through the 1Malaysia People’s Housing and the 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Project.
“Therefore, there is no reason for them to wait when there are many types of properties on the market,” he said.
Tiew said the MyRumah Property Showcase was a good platform for the public to learn about buying property.
He said the showcase was aimed at helping people make the right decision on property purchases.
The showcase is held for three days until today from 10am to 10pm.
Ten major developers, including Bina Darulaman Bhd, Paramount Properties, Belleview Group, Sunsuria Bhd and HLR & MR Group Sdn Bhd, are taking part in the showcase.
