KUALA LUMPUR: Potential property buyers and owners were given an insight on trending topics on aftersales concerns and dormant properties at the New Straits Times Press MyRumah Property Showcase here.

The property showcase continued to draw many from malls surround The Curve, Mutiara Damansara as it started its day with a discussion a panel of experts in a forum.

Among those featured were Widebed Sdn Bhd founder and chief executive officer Ivan Chong, a property aftersales expert, who drew many interested property owners to his session where they participated in a question and answer session that lasted for an hour.

Chong who was one of the main presenters spoke about creative ways to keep the rental market relevant and cost efficient.

“Property owners are moving towards the ‘home sharing’ trend since the rental market declined in the last two years.

“There is a property oversupply. With the home sharing idea that seems well accepted by Malaysians, the rental market looks like it could make a turnaround.

“Home sharing simply means buying a home, and renting it out to someone else and in recent days, this is becoming increasingly popular among property owners,” he said.

Tan Chew Ming, 45, a property investor said he has never missed a single MyRumah property installation.

“It is one of the best avenues to property investors to find what meets their requirement of an investment.

“For first time homebuyers, they get to compare between the property owners that are all consolidated at one place.

“You don’t have to move between places to make comparisons or appointments. Everything is here,” said Tan.

Jocelyn Lee, 37, who is also a property investor said the showcase this time around is more interesting as they get to meet with experts in the property market.

“I have had questions about property-related matters and I found answers through the forums,” she said.

Apart from property handling topics, the property showcase will feature several other forums including discussions about property handling through keeping up with technology and issues that influence prices of property investments.

“This is ideal for first-time homebuyers and investors as they can exchange notes before they decide on purchasing a property,” Lee added.

The property showcase ends tomorrow.

This years’ MyRumah Property Showcase infuses the three E’s as the backbone - Exhibition, Education and Entertainment.

For exhibition, visitors and potential buyers would be able to view various models and designs and as well as able to compare affordable financing schemes offered by banks.

For education, a notable element especially targeted at first time homebuyers and property investors, forums and question and answer sessions are conducted throughout the showcase from Oct 6 to 8, while the entertainment element features a play area for children while parents do their browsing.
