STAYING competitive is important for small businesses, especially food and beverage (F&B) outlets. Diners get weary of tired-looking furniture, lighting, carpet and tiles, and would go elsewhere to eat.

Redesigning an F&B outlet is not an easy task as it involves the process of designing, remodelling and planning, but with a competitive edge. Owners do it regardless of whether the market is soft or not as they feel it is necessary to stay within current market trends.

Starbucks and McDonald’s outlets around the world have spent hundreds of millions of dollars on such exercises.

Singapore-based Envictus International Holdings Ltd is starting 2018 with a new milestone — rebranding Malaysia’s existing three Delicious outlets in Bangsar VillageII, 1Utama and St Mary Place.

More than RM3 million was invested for the rebranding exercise, incorporating European and Malaysian influences.

“We believe the timing is just right as people are always looking for changes. Previously, we were using turquoise blue as the interior and now we have delicious green. We wanted the brand to grow and the colours to grow along with it,” said Tan San Hui, the marketing and communications representative for Delicious.

Each outlet displayed its own personal whimsically-playful interior “Grand Cafe”—touched with a dash of green, signifying flora and fauna, with its iconic image of birds flittering merrily around the Delicious walls.

“Birds are our significant symbol of Delicious, which will forever be there. We associate them with families, friends, beauty and the love to sing. They are also essential to the ecology of our world today, and they symbolise what the Delicious group stands for,” said Tan.

Serving as the flagship restaurant, Delicious Bangsar Village II has refurbished to enhance its dining room-styling with modern-yet-homely interiors.

The new look gives the place comfortability and breathing room, while cosy lounge chairs and stately details add accents and contemporary notions to the place. Guests can choose to dine at different sections of the area, including the cosy corner, alfresco, dining floor and bar section.

Tan said, Envictus has no plan to open new outlets as they are focused to perfect the system with Bangsar Village II, St Mary’s Residence and 1 Utama, ensuring a quality concept.
