KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open in Sydney on Friday.

They booked their spot following an easy 21-3, 21-10 win over Indonesia's Yantoni Edy Saputra-Marsheilla Gischa Islami.

The seventh seeds play China’s eighth seeds Wang Zekang-Li Yinhui in the last-four on Saturday.

The China pair defeated national No 1 Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie 21-17, 21-13 in the quarter-finals.

"Our opponents were not strong, and we had played them twice before this," said Liu Ying when contacted.

"Tomorrow, we face the pair that sent Soon Huat-Shevon packing in the quarter-finals, we have to be wary. However, we will focus on our game and prepare the best we can to face them.

"Our overall target is to improve our ranking.”
