SEPANG: Former Moto3 and Superbike World Championship (WSBK) rider, Zulfahmi Khairuddin admits that he is both anxious and excited to be picked as the first mentor for the Impian ke Moto GP programme organised by the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) involving as many as 300 budding young hopefuls from all over the country.

Zulfahmi explained that his close to eight years of experience competing in world class motorcycle races around the globe will be willingly shared with the best riders who successfully make the cut.

"For sure I will share my experiences with them, especially the deserving two riders who will be shortlisted.

"From there, the two will follow me as I compete in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC), and I will nurture and guide them at the CEV World Youth Championship in Europe come March,” said Zulfahmi who will be making his debut at the ARRC this season with ZK Racing Kawasaki team.

The talent search programme which happens over two days beginning today will identify the best young riders to be nurtured and developed into full-fledged MotoGP riders under Zulfahmi and SIC’s charge.

The lucky riders will undergo tests, heats and trials for more than a month to race in the ARRC and CEV series.

"This reality programme has been created to find and unearth budding young riders who have what it takes to successfully compete in CEV, Moto3, Moto2 and even MotoGP one fine day," he said.
