Malaysia’s first and sole MotoGP rider, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah wants to really perform his best at the Misano Circuit in Italy as this year’s San Marino Grand Prix (GP) takes place there this Sunday. This following the disappointment at the British GP which had to be cancelled due to heavy rainfall and bad weather only last week.
Hafizh who is fondly known as ‘Pescao’, said that he was utterly disappointed when he was told that the British GP race at the renowned Silverstone Circuit had to be cancelled due to safety concerns that arose because of the continuous bad weather which left the circuit soaking wet and dangerously slippery.
"I felt really disappointed and gutted because the race at Silverstone could not take place as I have never experienced such a scenario where the race had to be cancelled due to continuous bad weather that posed serious threat to the riders’ safety.
"However, my focus is now on the coming race at the Misano Circuit which is one of my favourites where I have a lot of sweet memories,” said Hafizh via a press statement released yesterday (Monday).
Therefore, Hafizh said that he is now completely ready for free practice session as final preparation before competing in the San Marino GP.
"I have worked very hard and put in a whole lot of effort during training last week, so I am very focused and hoping very much that it all works out well this coming weekend,” he said.
Before this it was reported that the British GP was cancelled following heavy rainfall which caused circuit conditions to be deemed unsafe.
Following continuous bad weather last week, the MotoGP race was brough forward from 12pm local time to 10.30am to avoid the dangerous conditions brought on as a result of the heavy downpour.
However, there was heavy rainfall in the morning, forcing race organisers to delay the start of the race and then cancelling it altogether due to grave safety concerns.
