KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Azim Abdul Zabadi is set to replace Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria as the new National Sports Institute chairman effective mid-May.
The matter was confirmed by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin at KL Sentral to mark the 100-days countdown to the KL2017 from Aug 19 to 30.
This also followed the announcement made by Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar on Azim's appointment as Chef de Mission (CDM) for the 2018 Asian Games, yesterday.
"He will be the new chairman of ISN to replace Datuk Seri Norza so we will get to see the synergy of an ISN chairman and the CDM for the Asian Games and that's very important."
"He's well experienced, he's a corporate man and he will lead ISN as well as guide our contingent as he is a strong leader in terms of management."
Khairy added that he will sign Azim's appointment letter today.
