KUALA LUMPUR: The national bowlers are making heads turn at the Brunswick Euro Challenge in Munich.

Rafiq Ismail, Syafiq Ridhwan Abd Malek and Sin Li Jane are in the top 12 after Sunday’s qualifying proceedings.

The top 12 bowlers will qualify automatically for Step Two of the masters round.

Rafiq is currently seventh on a six-game total of 1,408 pinfalls, followed by Syafiq (10th — 1,399) and Li Jane (12th — 1,388).

The other Malaysians are also in contention for spots in Step One.

Former world champion Esther Cheah is 19th on 1,368, followed by Ahmad Muaz Fishol (21st — 1,355), Timmy Tan (26th — 1,340), Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman (27th — 1,337), Adrian Ang (32nd — 1,291), Shalin Zulkifli (34th — 1,280), Natasha Roslan (42nd — 1,270) and Alex Liew (49th — 1,246).

Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress secretary general Maradona Chok said: “Our bowlers have done well in the qualifying round.

"However, they will have to continue bowling good lines for better scores as their rivals are also recording high scoring games.

"In fact, some of the best bowlers have yet to start as the qualifying round only ends on Saturday.

“At the stage, our bowlers are on the role.”

The Euro Challenge is an European Bowling Tour event.
