KUALA LUMPUR: National sprinter Zaidatul Husniah won the women’s 100m final in 11.65s in the Malaysian Open Athletics Championships at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Friday.
She ran on a wet track, as pouring rain and other delays started her race two hours late.
"I had to adjust my running style a little because of the wet track, and the delay was a little irritating, but it did not disrupt my run," said Zaidatul who made the semi-finals of last month’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
"The only thing that might have slowed me down was the fact that there was no heats this time, and we ran in the final straight," said Zaidatul.
She will compete in the 200m race on Saturday.
"I am juggling studies as well as athletics right now, and even though it is hectic, I will have to put in more time on the track if I want to qualify for the Asian Games," said the Universiti Putra Malaysia student.
